MidCoast Council will undertake the work from 6am on Saturday, October 26 to 6pm Sunday, October 27 after the failed pipes were identified as a potential hazard for motorists.
Council's manager of Northern Operations, Daniel Park said it's important for this work to be completed given the public safety risk.
"Manning Point Road is kept busy by local traffic as well as tourist traffic and being the main way in and out of one of our most beautiful locations, it's been a priority to get this work completed," Daniel said.
"We've scheduled the closure over a regular weekend to minimise the impact on the school bus service, as well as avoiding excess holiday traffic."
All resident access will be maintained up to each side of the road closure point with traffic controllers on hand to direct local traffic.
There will be a signposted alternate route via Beach and Sandridge Roads to maintain access to and from Manning Point village.
"Anyone heading out that way over the weekend should be aware that our detour is on an unsealed route, but we will have a water cart in use to help minimise the dust," Daniel added.
